Experienced Cook/Driver Wanted
for organized bicycle camping tours with German speaking tourists. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Season:
May 11 to October 11, 2008; 6 trips of 17days duration each.
Location:
Silverton / Castlegar via abandoned Kettle Valley Railway line to Hope, BC.
Groups:
7 to 16 cyclists, all adults.
Cook/Driver:
will operate support vehicle, purchase food, access groups at noon and in evening and provide breakfast, lunch and dinner and prepare snacks for riders.
Expectations of candidate:
- Responsible operator of 16-passenger mini bus / trailer with sufficient driving experience and clean driving record;
- class 4 drivers license and current driver's abstract required;
- sufficient experience as a cook;
- ability to cook variety of nutritious and delicious meals for an endurance cycling group in camping setting;
- responsible handling of food and equipment, i.e. completion of foodsafe program;
- good organizational and budgeting skills;
- good communication skills;
- ability to be flexible and adaptable to the group's needs;
- ability to cope with stressful situations;
- to be a reliable and honest team member with work commitment for the entire season;
- enjoying the job, i.e. meeting a diverse group of people, camping, outdoors, travelling;
- current first aid certificate - CPR.
