Bicycle Tour Guide Wanted
for organized bicycle camping tours with German speaking tourists.
Season:
May to September 2010; 5 tours of 20 days.
Route:
Castlegar via abandoned Kettle Valley Railway line to Hope (750km).
Groups:
7-16 cyclists (adults, possibly teens).
Guide:
will lead bicycle tours in liaison with cook/driver of mini bus/trailer.
Expectations:
- Candidate needs to be fluent in German;
- Prior bicycle touring experience;
- Enjoy dealing with German speaking tourists;
- Enjoy camping, the outdoors, traveling;
- Responsible operation of 16-passenger mini bus and utility trailer;
- Class 4 drivers license desirable (drivers abstract required);
- Readiness to be enthusiastically available for diverse needs of cyclists;
- Ability to adapt to cyclists in a sensitive and flexible fashion;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Reliable, honest, and co-operative team member;
- Ability to keep detailed and effective records (significant incidents);
- Good knowledge of bicycle mechanics;
- Minimum age 25 years;
- First Aid certificate required;
- Assisting Senior Tour Guide prior to own assignment.
Assets (not required):
Experience in hospitality industry/with (German speaking) tourists.
